About the WHS Scholarship Program
The Wayland High School Scholarship Committee was established in 1978 by the Wayland School Committee and a group of dedicated parents to help remove financial barriers for graduating seniors pursuing higher education. Guided by a mission to support students with demonstrated financial need, academic promise, and community service, we have been a pillar of support for Wayland High School students for over four decades.
Our team is composed of ten committed community members and ex officio members, including educators and administrators from the Wayland Public Schools. We meet monthly to strategize, raise funds, and carefully steward the donations we receive. Each year, we proudly award scholarships to deserving graduating seniors, helping them take their first steps toward their educational and career goals.
In 2025 we awarded $98,000 to 18 deserving seniors. This year we hope to have more money available, and we hope that more students will apply. We give awards to Wayland residents, students who attend WHS through the METCO program, students who are going on to two- and four-year colleges, and students who are doing other post-graduate work in an accredited program.
Over the years, we have established 51 named awards in memory or honor of outstanding community members and Wayland Public School employees. These awards, such as the Quarter Century Award honoring retiring educators, represent the generosity and commitment of our community. Contributions can also be made to the general endowment, ensuring the program’s future. Learn more about our Awards
