The Wayland High School Scholarship Committee is seeking a treasurer for the 2026-2027 school year and beyond.
The role requires annual and ongoing tasks, including:

Participating in executive committee sessions and monthly committee meetings (school year)
Ongoing money management (e.g., banking)
Managing donations and related administration
Financial reporting to Committee (monthly Sept-May)
Preparing documents for financial, tax, and accounting advisors
Calculating annual awards and managing grants

Jeannie Brown, co-chair

Jeannie Brown has been on the Committee since 2018 and has acted as chair since 2020. Her two adult children thrived in the Wayland Public Schools and other community-sponsored activities. Once a scholarship recipient herself, she received a degree in English and now works in corporate communications.

Kara Brown, co-chair

Kara Brown has been a Committee member since 2021 and has lived in Wayland since 2011.  Her two children are in the Wayland school system and her family enjoys being active in community activities, particularly sports.  A financial regulatory attorney by training, Kara is General Counsel and leads corporate operations for a global private equity real estate firm.

Cindi Bryant

Cynthia “Cindi” Bryant has been a member of the Committee for over 20 years and a lifelong resident of Wayland. She is an active business woman in the community. Her grandchildren are the fourth generation to attend Wayland Public Schools and her son graduated from Wayland High School in 2004. She is delighted to be an integral part of sustaining the scholarship program and to have the opportunity to be associated and work with such a diverse group of committee members.

Jeanne Chiang

Jeanne Chiang is a California transplant who has lived in Wayland since 2012. She and her partner have two children in the Wayland public schools. Jeanne is passionate about advocating for underrepresented sports, and has been involved with developing both the cheerleading and gymnastics programs in town. She works in the K-12 educational tech field and has served on the leadership team for several AANHPI employee resource groups.

Julie Ellenbogen

Julie Ellenbogen is a dedicated community member who has lived in Wayland for over 23 years.  She has been a member of the scholarship committee since 2018.  Julie is a proud mother of three children who have successfully navigated the Wayland school system and is committed to ensuring educational opportunities for all.

Aida Gennis

Aida Gennis has been a member of the Committee since 2003. Her four children benefited greatly and are graduates of the Wayland Public Schools. Aida is an attorney and active in Town government on the Board of Library Trustees and Zoning Board of Appeals.

Alaina Ghetti

Alaina Ghetti is a Spanish teacher and the Department Head of World Languages and Classical Studies at Wayland High School.  She lives in Marlborough with her husband and two children.  Her eldest child attends school in Marlborough and her youngest attends the Early Learning Center at Temple Shir Tikva in Wayland.  She is passionate about supporting all students.

James Hammond

James Hammond joined the Committee in 2023. He moved to Wayland in 2011 and his two sons are enrolled in Wayland schools.  He and his wife, Kristine, are driven by a passion for supporting the educational journey of wayland students. James served in the United States Air Force and continues to work in the public sector, in research, development and acquisitions. 

Jennifer Hood-DeGrenier

Jennifer Hood-DeGrenier is Professor and Chair of the Biology Department at Worcester State University. She has lived in Wayland since June 2012 with her husband, Caleb, and two kids, Julia (now a sophomore at Bates College) and Atticus (currently a senior at Wayland High School). As an educator at a public university, Jen is passionate about facilitating higher ed access for all and is very familiar with the financial struggles faced by many students. She has served on the Worcester State scholarship committee for a number of years and is excited to give back to the Wayland community in a similar capacity.

Vanessa Jason

Vanessa Jason has lived in Wayland for over 10 years with her three children who are currently enrolled in Wayland schools. A teacher turned curriculum designer, Vanessa is passionate about education and providing opportunities to all students. 

Chabeli Nadal

Chabeli Nadal has been a member of the committee since 2021. Her two children attend Wayland Public Schools. She is a bilingual clinical social worker who has spent her career in public service. Chabeli has a strong commitment to fostering empowerment and equity in the schools and communities she serves.  Her extensive experience in student support  is an invaluable asset to the committee.  

Argie Shapiro

Argie Kosmetatos Shapiro is a mother of three and an attorney with more than twenty-six years of experience, with a particular focus on working with the tax-exempt sector in Massachusetts. A nature lover, gym rat and a surprisingly prolific vegetable gardener, she is easily spotted walking her beloved miniature Schnauzer near her home in Wayland. As the first in her family to earn a college and graduate degree, she is committed to ensuring that educational opportunities are afforded to all and is delighted to work with the Scholarship Committee to steward its mission. 

Amy Sullivan, Treasurer

Amy Sullivan has been a member of the Wayland High School Scholarship Committee since 2018.  In 2021, Amy became the treasurer for the committee.  She and her husband have raised three children in Wayland. She works in the field of education, and appreciates the opportunity to give back to the community.

Suzanne Dromey Tiberii

Suzanne Dromey Tiberii has been a member of the scholarship Committee for over 20 years and a Wayland resident for over 40 years. Her two children graduated from Wayland High School. She is especially proud of the opportunity she’s had to help families establish scholarship funds, creating a living legacy for loved ones. Suzanne is a retired special education teacher and administrator.
