Applicant Frequently Asked Questions

I haven’t committed to a college yet. Can I still apply?
YES! We know that many students do not make their final decisions on which college they’ll attend until May 1 or later. That’s okay! If you meet the eligibility criteria for the scholarship, complete an application and the committee will work with you to finalize all the details necessary.

I’m on a waitlist for my preferred college. Can I still apply?

YES! If you meet the eligibility criteria for the scholarship, apply and tell the committee if your plans change. If you receive an award, the committee will work with you to ensure it is sent to the correct college.

My SAI is over 40000 but my family is going through a difficult time. Can I still apply?

Yes. The committee’s mission is to make the transition to college easier for students who show academic promise and have a financial need. Apply for the scholarship and let the committee know what your special circumstances are. Your application will be handled with care and discretion.

I’m not going to a four-year college. Can I still apply?

To be considered for an award, an applicant does not need to attend a four-year college; however they do need to enroll in a program of future study that is full-time and will result in a degree or certificate.

I’m taking a gap year. Can I still apply?

YES! If you meet the eligibility criteria for the scholarship, apply and tell the committee that you are taking a gap year. If you receive an award, the committee will work with you to ensure it is sent when you enroll in college.

What is an SAI? How do I get one?

Your Student Aid Index (SAI) is calculated using information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. If you have completed the FAFSA, you will see your SAI on the confirmation page of your FAFSA form or within your FAFSA Submission Summary.
